Talking to Rockstarfairy

In June, I had the amazing opportunity to perform at the Wesavage stage at Zamanand, along with a wide range of other artists!

One particularly stood out to me - the enigmatic Rockstarfairy!
Eager to learn more, I decided to ask her some questions...

Q: During your show at Zamanand, you sang over Boom-Bap beats - what influenced your musical style?

A: My style will always have a little jazzy blusy note in it but when I comes to boom bap my influences as artist would be Lauryn hill, Fugees (especially in their early albums) - Mariana from Digable planets as well.

Q: While the Munich rap scene itself is very male-dominated, rap-adhacent genres such as R&B and Soul are an entirely different story - what has your experience been as a woman in this musical community?

A: My experience as a female vocalist based in Munich is that a whole lotta rappers are DMing me either for a collab or if they can use my voice as a sample, rather than actually seeing and hearing my texts as well. On the other side - it’s nice that since it’s so male dominated I kind of stand out here in Munich as a woman

Q: At Zamanand, we had a huge lineup of artists with very different visual presentation. Even in this lineup, your look clearly stood out - what influences your fashion sense & visual style?

A:
I’ve always been into fashion since I was a little girl.
I just love to make an effort for myself, even if I just buy my groceries or go for a walk, I just love to feel comfortable.
My mindset is that there is not such thing as over dressed (never!)

If I wouldn’t be in the music industry I’d probably do something with fashion.
